Curriculum Planning
Structure of the school week/day
At Education-Time we recognise the importance of getting the fundamentals right. The structure of the working week has a direct impact on standards and on learning. And there is no right answer. Each school/college has to find the right combination of learning opportunities to meet the needs of their students. That is the challenge. Experience has shown that a fresh pair of eyes could well spot solutions that have eluded those who are more intimately involved. That's where we come in.Education-time will:
- Suggest alternative approaches to the day/week structures
- Guide you through the legal restrictions that control these changes
- Help the SLT and governors through the consultation process
Subjects on offer
We believe that there are five main factors that influence subject offer in schools;
- The ethos/values of the school. What role subjects such as RE, MFL, citizenship, PSHE and work-related learning have within the school
- The skills that teachers have to deliver subjects
- The demand from students
- The resources available either on-site or in a federated school
- The local offer which is normally dictated by:
- Diploma availability
- Specialist schools
- Collaborative arrangements
Balancing time allocations to subjects
There is guidance available from QCA and the DCSF but schools will normally decide subject weightings based on a combination of factors specific to their institution. Education-time can help with this decision-making process. How we work
Education-time has high standards and high expectations. In order to find the right solutions we would need to:
- Meet with you to discuss your needs
- Gather the appropriate information
- Agree an action plan
- Agree a timing plan
- Agree fees
